In case you missed it – and judging by the line outside our door at 5 p.m., many of you absolutely did not – our first-ever Scuba Seekers Community Day turned into one of the most memorable evenings we’ve ever hosted.
Here’s the full rundown of what happened, what you missed, and why we’re already planning the next one.
The Calm Before the Storm (of People)
We shut down the dive centre early at 3 p.m. to transform the space, and by 5 p.m. sharp, a queue had already formed outside. Registration opened…and immediately exploded. The energy was electric before anyone had even walked through the door.
Everyone who registered received our limited-edition Community Day T-shirt and the first five people in line left with arms full of Scuba Seekers merch – our gorgeous limited-edition tote bags, hoodies, T-shirts, stickers, and keychains. It was the fastest merch drop we’ve ever done.
The Lucky Draw That Stole the Night
We knew the prizes were good, but the reactions made them even better.
First Place:
A free liveaboard trip – now officially on our newly acquired Marselia Star – plus 50% off for a buddy.
Yes, someone actually walked out with an entire 7-day dive safari.
Second Place:
A 5-dive package, a tote bag, and a Mares XR backplate courtesy of SSI.
Third Place:
A €75 voucher, a tote bag, and a Mares mask, also courtesy of SSI.
The disbelief from winners who had “never won anything” made the entire draw worth it.
Tec Corner: The Halcyon Rebreather Takes Over
One of the biggest hits of the event was the Halcyon rebreather showcase. Sameh Sokar (owner of Scuba Seekers) walked a big crowd through the unit, electronics, and app – part technical demo, part masterclass. For many guests, it was their first time seeing a rebreather up close, and the level of interest was wild.
Conservation Station: The Heart of the Event
Another star of the night was our conservation area — a perfect snapshot of what Scuba Seekers stands for beyond diving.
Highlights included:
- Exhibiting Healthy Seas and our joint mission to clean up Dahab’s underwater coastline.
- Showcases of our ecology and conservation courses and how divers can contribute meaningfully.
- A special appearance by Andrey Ryanskiy and Irina Khlopunova, authors of Red Sea Marine Life (and many other identification guides).
- Their announcement of a 2026 Sea Slug Census in Dahab – which we’ll feature in our next newsletter.
Interested in Andrey’s books? You can explore his e-book offerings here or find hard copies on Amazon.
This corner became a hub for conversations, future project plans, and some very excited nudibranch fans.
Food So Good People Forgot to Mingle
Community Day also doubled as a food festival, thanks to the incredible catering by Bakeyard.
The menu people are still talking about:
- Vegan ricotta bruschetta
- Pizza rolls
- Guac taco cups
- Minced meat taco cups
- Pasta salad
- Tabouleh
- Sausage rolls
- Pain au chocolat
- Lemon cake
- Carrot cake
- Detox drinks
We’re not saying the food alone justified the event… but it came close.
The Soundtrack That Completed the Night
No evening is complete without the right atmosphere – and we were incredibly lucky to have Unscripted Harmony setting the musical tone. Organized by our very own Ashraf Tarek, a member of the band, the music was warm, vibrant, and absolutely perfect for the event. It elevated the energy, softened transitions between sessions, and created the kind of vibe that makes people want to linger long after the program ends.
It is safe to say the soundtrack was just as memorable as everything else. Follow the band on Instagram @unscriptedharmony
A Special Moment for Women in Tec
The women diving that day received a little extra love – and a lot of appreciation. Thanks to the women of Scuba Seekers and SSI, each woman received:
- Tote bag
- Towel poncho
- T-shirt
- Stickers
- Keychain
- SSI sunglasses
It was a small but meaningful celebration of a community that deserves far more visibility in the technical diving world.
Looking Back: A Night That Felt Like Family
Community Day wasn’t just an event. It was a reminder of why Scuba Seekers exists: to bring people together through diving, learning, conservation, and a shared love for the ocean.
From the line at the door to the final goodbyes long after the schedule ended, the energy never dipped. Between the demos, conservation talks, music, prizes, food, and the sheer number of new friendships made, the night felt like something we’ll be building on for years.
If this was the first Community Day… imagine the second.
If You Missed It – Don’t Worry
We’re already planning the next one.
Stay tuned for dates, bigger demos, more surprises, and more ways to be part of this growing community.
And if you want to make sure you don’t miss the next registration line (or the next tote bag drop), join our newsletter or reach out anytime.

Rasaalika spent over thirteen years in strategy, investment banking, and asset management for the impact investing sector prior to her first dive in the low-visibility waters of Singapore. Like many others, she was captivated by every aspect of the ocean and all its wonders. She gave up corporate life and dove into the ocean full-time, diving across nine countries—with the sharks of the Maldives and in the frigid waters of Lake Huron—before landing in Dahab and falling in love with technical and CCR diving. She is now a key member of Scuba Seekers’ marketing team, Program Manager for Scuba Seekers x Healthy Seas, and Scuba Seekers’ resident underwater camerawoman, and is a rEvo Hypoxic Trimix 100m diver with over 350 hours of rebreather experience.
