Tec diving with Scuba Seekers

Why is Dahab a top spot for Tec Diving?

You’ve probably noticed that we love technical (Tec) diving. It’s in our blood. We love going on Tec dives and we love introducing new people to this next stage in their diving education. We also think Dahab is a brilliant place for Tec diving, whatever your experience level.

Here’s why:

Deep water close to shore

Although not all Tec diving has to be performed at depth, being able to go deeper and spend longer underwater is a big part of the appeal of Tec diving. As the majority of our dives are shore-based, it’s important that we have deep water that’s not a long swim away.

Luckily Dahab delivers spectacularly on that front. You don’t have to go far to find 40+m of depth at many of our local sites, and that means whether you’re new to Tec and are honing your skills on a course, or have been Tec diving for a while and want to do some exploring, there’s lots on offer.

Varied Tec diving sites

We don’t just have one good Tec diving site in Dahab. We have lots. And there are plenty more to be discovered – that much we’re sure of.

One of the things that makes Tec diving in Dahab so special is the underwater topography and reef structures we’ve got on our doorstep. The Blue Hole and its Arch is probably the most famous, but we also have multiple canyons in the reef.

The Canyon, which you may well have dived as a recreational diver, takes on a whole new dimension when you’re able to follow its twists and turns to the deep exit at 51m.

Then there’s Abu Talha Canyon – find out more about this site by taking a look at our blog about our project to map this canyon – as well as the 3 Valleys Canyon.

Dahab is also home to several caves and caverns that can be explored with the right level of technical training. Neptune’s Cave, at 75m, is the most famous, but there are many others.

Safe learning environment

For anyone who’s looking at getting started on or continuing with their Tec diving courses, Dahab is the ideal spot. The Lighthouse training area is just as suitable for technical courses as it is for recreational.

We’re very lucky to have such a beautiful place so close by where we can help divers develop all the skills they need to become confident and excellent Tec divers.

You’ll also be able to carry out dives at some of Dahab’s best Tec sites; which ones will depend on the level of training you’re taking. That means you can put your new skills into practice on incredible Tec dives as soon as you’re ready.

Tec diving community

We don’t just want to teach you technical skills and never see you again. We love welcoming people into our diving community in Dahab. Sameh has been teaching technical diving for over ten years and he loves seeing his students become accomplished Tec divers in their own right, returning to Dahab time and again to explore new sites and revisit old favourites.

There’s always someone around who’s got Tec diving stories to share and we love to see everyone interacting and making new friends at the dive centre.

Our Tec diving team live and breathe all forms of technical diving, from twinsets and sidemount configurations to rebreathers. We all love to talk about Tec diving almost as much as we love to do it, so when you join us you’ll become part of our community.
