TECHNICAL DIVER 1
The GUE Tech 1 takes the skills you learned in the Technical Fundamentals course and applies them to deeper diving. It will teach you how to manage risk and hone your focus on dive planning, teamwork, communication and situational awareness.
The Tech 1 course will:
- extend your depth limit to 51m
- teach general decompression strategies and procedures
- use Helium-based breathing mixtures of standard gases (32% nitrox, 30/30 triox, or 21/35 trimix or 18/45 trimix)
- instruct on the safe use of 50% Nitrox or oxygen for accelerated decompression
- allow for use of doubles and one stage cylinder
- develop your rescue techniques and situational awareness
The GUE Technical Diver 1 course prepares you for advanced tech training such as the Tech 2 and CCR courses as well as opens the door for participation in GUE scientific and exploration projects.

Class Size: max. 3 students
Applicants for the GUE Tech 1 must:
- hold a GUE Technical Fundamentals certification
- have conducted at least 100 non-training dives
- if using a drysuit during the course, have conducted at least 25 non-training dives in a drysuit or have conducted 15 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit following completion of GUE Drysuit Primer certification
The initial dive training will take place directly in the sea in one of our protected bays at Lighthouse and/or Mashraba. Once you gain control of body and equipment you may visit different dive sites at the Instructor’s discretion.
